Waterhouse Lake Day Hike or overnight trip

This shorter 2.8  mile roundtrip hike is short but contains a short 1/3 mile very steep rocky section that requires careful navigation.  It is easy to miss this steep section on your return trek.

This is one of the best swimming lakes around.  You could hike to here from Pinecrest directly but usually this is accessed by driving about 11 miles from Pinecrest on the Herring Creek Road. (see map below).

It is a popular backpacking lake as it is only a short distance from the trail head.

Once you leave the trailhead area the trail is easy to follow until you reach the steep cliff rock.  There are often a few marked courses down the rock ridge.  Whichever route you take, at the bottom of the cliff rock area, you will traverse east toward Waterhouse lake.
